Building Experiences

We believe that making your renovation a great experience is the cornerstone to a successful renovation. No matter how big or small your project may be, whether it is an addition, renovation or outdoor living project, we strive to make this your best renovation experience.

A few years prior to starting our business, we had a memorable customer service experience that has shaped how we do business today.

  • We were shopping for an expensive item and had settled on one particular model. We had set up an appointment to make the purchase and had a few questions about the product. The sales rep became very irritated by our questions. We started feeling uncomfortable and disappointed with the overall experience. Considering the amount of money we were going to have to spend and the amount of time we would have to live with the item, we did not want the experience to be unhappy in any way. We decided to go for a drive to think about it.

    Spontaneously, we decided to visit a small company that sold a similar product. The moment we walked in the door we could sense the difference. It was a more personal experience. The sales rep was very friendly, relaxed and helpful. He had the authority to provide answers and negotiate the agreement with us. Nothing was an inconvenience for him. The experience was fun, easy and relaxed. We left the second company having purchased the product from them instead. I called the first sales rep back to let him know we would not be coming back and he hung up on me! What a contrast!

    After we got our item home the experience did not stop there. The company continued to surprise us and out-perform our expectations. We felt so happy with our purchase and experience that I remember thinking when I start a business this is the kind of experience I want to provide for our clients.

  • We manage your project from start to finish. After we have established the design, quoting and contract stage, we arrange for the necessary Engineering, permit application, locates, building inspections, sub-trade hiring and scheduling, material ordering and all work necessary to complete your renovation.

    Building Relationships

    We believe that building and maintaining a great relationship with our clients, sub-trades, suppliers and industry colleagues is vital to a successful renovation project.

    Communication is key throughout the renovation process. We keep you informed on the progress of your project, and are on site to manage the day-to-day work. We can quickly address any questions, comments or concerns that may arise during the process.

    We strive to make your renovation experience a positive one from start to finish. We treat you the way we like to be treated and respect your home as we do our own. It is a simple philosophy really, yet makes all the difference between a good experience and a bad one. When we bump into our clients in our neighbourhood, a social function or the grocery store, it is always a happy encounter. Knowing that we have done our very best and provided our clients with something they are thrilled with is a great reward.

    Building Quality

    We believe that building it right the first time by taking the care and time required to complete your renovation project is important for a great renovation experience.

    Quality is not found only in the finishing details you see, but is also in the building science applied to the technical construction of your renovation. We actively educate ourselves in building sciences, and incorporate these principles into the technical details of your renovation where they are applicable. We call this Smart Living because we believe it is wise to make the home efficient to help manage ever increasing energy costs and to provide a comfortable and healthy home for your family to enjoy.

    Building Dreams

    Founded in March 2005 by John Dias, Stefanie Coleman-Dias, and their 6 month old son Alex (hence the 3 in the name), CD³ (Coleman-Dias³ Construction Inc.) has built its business on the bedrock of excellent quality, reliability and customer service. CD³ has steadily grown through referral and repeat clients.

  • “It was our dream to be self-employed, to allow us the flexibility and freedom to have a family life that we envisioned for ourselves which was not possible with our former careers.” John worked for a large construction company in Winnipeg for 22 years. Stefanie worked in the fashion industry for 10 years after graduating from the University of Manitoba and was a clothing buyer for a large Canadian women’s retail chain headquartered in Winnipeg.

    Early 2005, John, Stefanie and Alex moved from Winnipeg to St. Thomas where Stefanie’s family lives and started CD³. “It was a huge risk to leave our jobs, move to St. Thomas and start a construction business, but it was a researched and calculated risk. We knew with John’s technical skills in construction and attention to detail in his craftsmanship, and my background with business management and creative design from the fashion industry, we had the skill set to successfully build the business.”

  • In 2011 we have the great privilege of participating in a Humanitarian Build. More information will be posted on our Blog in the coming months.
